I have been researching German U-Falle/bateau piège/Q-ships lately and ran across an entry in my Groener's "Deutsche Kriegschiffe V. 8 page 539 about a ship named "Capitan Pitou" that says it was used as a decoy ship in the Western Mediterranean 1944. She was 400 tons and had 1-90mm, 1-37mm and two torpedo tubes. I checked on Betasom and was told there was no Italian merchant by that name. Does anyone have any information if this was possibly a French ship?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!

Re: Question on possible French ship in German use as a "bateau piège"
Selon Groener le bateau était en construction par le chantier Solimano chez Savona = impossible, que c'est un bateau francais.
