Ferry boat in Marseilles 1943.

Can anyone identify this boat? Looks like a "Peche garde " craft.

Hello Dave,

She is the "La Canebière II" of the Services Côtiers et du Château d'If (Marseille). She is principally sailing between the Vieux Port and the island of If where a castle was build by the King François 1er. betwenne 1527 and 1529. This castle was known by the novel of Alexandre Dumas, the "Comte de Monte Christo". During the 1939-1940 period "La Canebière II" was the auxiliary minseweeper AD 219.

I don't see her in Groeners. Any Italian or German service other than a ferry?

She is a small boat (GRT : 49,59 tx) for tourists. She served under charter as a liaison ship between Marseille and the Frioul Islands where the Germans built many batteries

The number I give is Gross Register Tonnage and not a displacement.
