SM Rubis WW2

Hello Lilian,
then let's use your native language, if easier to you. I have been in touch in the past with several former free french submariners of the Rubis, sadly most of them are yet deceased (to my knowledge, maybe one only still living in France ... and even not sure).
The good news is that due to my recent move to the UK, and thanks to my very good relationship with lots of former free french seamen, I have recently liaised with the "liaison man" of all these former f.f. seamen, who then settled in the UK. Luckily to me, he is himself a former f.f. submariner, and told me he would be pleased to help me to contact all the UK community of former f.f. seamen + british liaison teams "still on the deck". The last time I had him on the phone (monday), he told me he would help me to liaise with one still living former Rubis man, in Scotland.
Should this contact be successful, I can ask him about possible souvenirs about your uncle Serge Remenant. Let me know by MP if interested ?
I have copied a lot of pictures as well from the Rubis and crew, while visiting my contacts. Quite sure your uncle is on some of them.
Best regards,
Jean-Daniel

WW2 SM Rubis
Hello Jean-Daniel and thank you for replying in English! In 2006 Gaston Sanz (then 82) was believed to be the last surviving member of the crew of Le Rubis (and he was also the adoptive father of the dog Bacchus). When my aunt and uncle were alive, I got regular news of the remaining crew and my aunt and uncle travelled to France every couple of years for reunions with the surviving crew. I would very much like to have photos or any other remembrances of my uncle Serge. As I said in my terrible French, we were very close and in fact when I was very small, he used to give me his medals to play with!! He was such a quiet and unassuming man. It was not until I was an adult and started to research Le Rubis on my own, that I realized what heroes those men were. Even after my uncle died and I received his medals, I did not really know the significance of the Croix de Guerre. I am very proud to be the niece of Serge Remenant.

Hi Lilian,
I shall travel to Scotland (Dundee area), where I am invited to go by a former f.f. submariner who made all the war from july 40 to may 45 on different f.f. subs. I may go there before the end of the year, for a long week end, to meet him there + some other former f.f. submariners and families of, who still live there. I will also take advantage of this to go visiting with them some places of memory ashore, where themselves or their subs used to be, to make a kind of "then and now" videos and photos report, to compare with the local pictures from the war time I already have.
I will try to meet the former Rubis man as well (+ another one, unfortunately yet deceased, family). If I manage to meet some members of the Rubis family, I will not forgot your request and will let you know.
Regards,
Jean-Daniel

Hello Jean-Daniel
I think I can help you to contact the former RUBIS man who's still alive and well, and living in Scotland. He is my father - André VALLOIS, former Petty Officer Mechanic, who served on the RUBIS from 1939 until his demobilisation in 1945, and who participated in all 28 of the RUBIS'S missions during the war. Should you wish to contact him please send me your e-mail address and I can pass his contact details to you.
Best regards.
Linda
PS - I've asked him if he has any photos of Lilian's uncle, Serge REMENANT, but unfortunately he doesn't have any. However, he does remember Serge very well.
